a long and abominable history....

We are becoming aware, often belatedly, of the crimes committed by the Benjamin Netanyahu government against civilians in Gaza, Lebanon, Syria, and Iran. No other government in the world considers the elimination of those who resist it to justify all collateral damage, regardless of the number.

Should the State of Israel Be Defascistized?

by Thierry Meyssan

We must also realize that this way of thinking did not arise from nowhere; it has a long and abominable history.
We must take responsibility and intervene before this government begins to attack its own citizens. Not because they are more valuable than Arabs and Persians, but because they are the same: they are human beings too.

International public opinion has clearly shifted regarding Benjamin Netanyahu, the Prime Minister of Israel. It is now clear to a majority that he is not seeking peace, but is attempting to annihilate the population of southern Lebanon, as he tried to do with that of Gaza.

This only became clear when he opposed the United States’ peace plan with Iran, because, for the first time, his main ally showed that another path was possible.

Since the Likud/Kahanist coalition [1] came to power, we have consistently explained that the current Israeli government is pursuing the "revisionist Zionist" project of Ze’ev Vladimir Jabotinsky [2].

Although we have repeatedly emphasized that the "revisionist Zionist" project of a "Jewish Empire" has no connection whatsoever with Theodor Herzl’s "Zionism," some readers have dismissed our arguments, believing they mask an antisemitic bias. Besides being insulting, this ignores our work in promoting equality for all.

We therefore recall a long-hidden truth: Revisionist Zionists were allies of Duce Benito Mussolini and negotiated with associates of Führer Adolf Hitler throughout the Second World War and even beyond. They organized, with SS officer Adolf Eichmann, the deportation of thousands of Hungarian Jews to Auschwitz [3].

Confusion arose after Operation Al-Aqsa: The Flood of October 7, 2023. A debate ensued regarding whether the Israeli response should be classified as genocide. Some argued that, on the one hand, the Israeli army clearly did not seek to kill targets based on their ethnicity and, on the other hand, that there were no government orders to that effect.

However, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) were implementing the “Dahiyah Directive,” drafted by the highly respected General Gadi Eizenkot in October 2008 [4]. Speaking about the suburbs of Beirut and southern Lebanon, he told Yediot Aharonot: “We will apply disproportionate force to the villages and cause extensive damage and destruction. From our perspective, these are not civilian villages; they are military bases. This is not a recommendation. It is a plan. And it has been approved.”

This plan was first implemented in Gaza over the past three years and in Lebanon in recent months. These are war crimes publicly claimed by a Jewish Arab military officer who served as Chief of Staff of the IDF from 2015 to 2019 and who became a minister without portfolio, joining the war cabinet on October 11, 2023.

These war crimes aim to annihilate the popular resistance of Gazans and Lebanese. To conflate the resistance fighters with the civilian population is to claim that all Gazans and all southern Lebanese will be annihilated. This undoubtedly constitutes genocide.

It was up to the International Court of Justice (the internal tribunal of the United Nations) to decide. This is what South Africa, already a victim of revisionist Zionists during the apartheid era, attempted to achieve as early as December 29, 2023. Unfortunately, the majority of the Court initially opposed it under the influence of its president, the Lebanese Nawaf Salam. He owes his family fortune to his grandfather’s purchase of Palestinian bourgeois land on behalf of Lord Lionel Walter Rothschild. Following Salam’s intervention, he was appointed Prime Minister of Lebanon… where he must confront the very same situation he failed to resolve in Gaza.

The question now is, “Should we defascize the State of Israel?” just as Germany was supposedly denazified. Indeed, everyone must be aware that Benjamin Netanyahu and his allies intend to fundamentally transform the State of Israel, which they have already defined as “the Jewish state,” and which they have said they want to turn not into “Athens,” but into “Super-Sparta” [5].

This issue is likely to be vital: to date, Benjamin Netanyahu’s coalition practices torture, war crimes, and genocide, but it has never taken the lives of its opponents. Yet this is the next step in its seizure of power and the realization of its goals. It has not done so out of humanity, but for one reason only: to maintain the unity of the Israeli people in order to use its image to mask its crimes.

We must all understand, Israelis and non-Israelis, Jews and non-Jews, that the “revisionist Zionists” are the enemies of humankind. They showed no restraint in murdering pro-Soviet Ukrainian Jews in 1921-1923 [6], and then the wealthiest Hungarian Jews in 1942-1945. They will show no more restraint tomorrow in killing those who resist them, regardless of who they are. We must look at the facts clearly and stop them.

murdering doctors....

Palestinian pediatrician Hussam Abu Safiya, director of Kamal Adwan Hospital, wearing his white coat, approaches an Israeli army tank outside the medical facility in Gaza City on that fateful December 28, 2024, after the hospital grounds had already been stormed and its staff evacuated. These images have been seen around the world. They are the last we have of him, walking of his own volition toward the tank. Dr. Safiya had been interrogated and beaten by Israeli soldiers and wounded in the leg on November 23 of the same year.

Israel claimed, as in many other cases of attacks on healthcare facilities, that the hospital housed Hamas members. This was sufficient grounds to raze the building and everyone inside. “We are dying inside hospitals, we are being annihilated, the language of global respect has disappeared,” Safiya wept to the camera just days after the murder of her son Ibrahim in October 2024. Since then, more than 1,500 healthcare workers have been killed in Israeli attacks on medical facilities and transport (Middle East Eye, 22/06/25).

Genocide has many faces: it is not only widespread bombing and drone attacks against the population, but also the murder of children with a bullet to the head, the health and food blockade that is gradually exhausting the population, the targeted assassination of journalists, and, as we denounce today, of all medical and healthcare personnel. Since November 13, 2023, 36 hospitals have been attacked and besieged in flagrant violation of the 1949 Geneva Convention, resulting in the deaths of newborns and depriving thousands of patients of treatment and surgery. The major symbolic target was Al-Shifa Hospital, with its 150 healthcare professionals, which was attacked by drones and snipers in October 2023.

The case of Dr. Khaled Hamouda, from the Indonesian hospital, is undeniably emblematic, as it represents a deliberate massacre perpetrated in 2023. Hamouda belonged to a family of doctors, ten of whose members were murdered by the Israeli army. Medical staff were even attacked directly in their homes (Gaza: Doctors Under Attack, Channel 4, 2025).

As in the darkest days of Nazi Germany’s totalitarian horrors, the Israeli army has created temporary concentration camps called “black sites,” where it detains defenseless civilians and medical personnel. The existence of these spaces of horror, hidden from the gaze of journalists' cameras and ordinary citizens, reveals a genocidal attempt to evade legal responsibility, allowing arrests, humiliations, and torture with impunity, if indeed there are any consequences at all.

The Israeli army's conduct in its attacks against hospitals and healthcare workers in Gaza follows a defined logic and assault patterns. It is a sequence of actions: 1) airstrikes and bombing of hospital buildings; 2) ground encirclement and blockade of supplies; 3) assault with tanks and bulldozers; 4) detention of medical personnel, patients, and their companions; 5) forced evacuation; and 6) disabling of services (UN Report on Attacks on Hospitals, 2024). In this spiral of violence, according to the documents collected, the torture pattern continues: 1) transfer of civilians and medical personnel to black sites; 2) transfer to detention centers in Israel; 3) interrogation; and finally, 4) torture with physical, psychological and sexual abuse (Gaza: doctors under attack, Channel 4, 2025).

After the first invasion of Kamal Adwan Hospital in December 2023, when the Israeli army encircled Gaza City, Dr. Abu Safiya denounced the presence of quadcopters loaded with kilograms of explosives. These devices, capable of flight and remote monitoring, were used to deliberately murder civilians and medical personnel. At the hospital, there were 22 babies in intensive care. Safiya spoke to the press about the brutality with which Israel was perpetrating massacres (The Disappearance of Dr. Abu Safiya, Fault Lines, 2025).

After his capture, Dr. Abu Safiya was sent to Sde Teiman Prison, an Israeli military base located in the Negev Desert, about 30 kilometers from the Gaza border, which had been transformed into a torture camp. Among the mistreated detainees were also Palestinian healthcare workers captured during Israeli raids on Gaza hospitals. Months later, Abu Safiya was transferred to Ofer Prison in the West Bank. His arrest marked a turning point in the collapse of the healthcare system. By then, his reports already mentioned the use of sophisticated weapons firing various powders: “We received decapitated bodies and people who arrived in pieces,” Abu Safiya explained, while his hospital treated the seriously wounded on the operating room floor, in the corridors, and in the waiting rooms. The main victims were children, women, and the elderly.

On May 31, Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital announced that its operating theaters had ceased functioning after a complete failure of its electrical generators, leading to the suspension of operations and the imminent closure of the dialysis, neonatal intensive care, and intensive care units, as well as the laboratories (Al Mayadeen, May 31, 2026).

Ezzideen Shehab was a Palestinian doctor who returned to Gaza a few days before October 7, 2023. He had been volunteering at the Indonesian hospital. In December 2024, he founded the Al-Rahma Medical Center, which was repeatedly damaged before finally being destroyed in July 2025. Shehab published the collection of testimonies, Diary of a Young Doctor (2025), which should be revisited today in light of Israel’s crimes against doctors. On Saturday, May 30 of this year, Dr. Yamal Abu Aoun, head of the anesthesiology department at Yafa Hospital, was killed in an Israeli airstrike in Deir al-Balah.

Today, Hussam Abu Safiya’s life is in danger. He is imprisoned, tortured, malnourished, and deprived of medical care; he faces no legal charges, which is the norm in this system of Israeli injustice. Numerous campaigns are demanding his release, and social media is mobilizing to try to prevent his arbitrary detention without trial from continuing to destroy his life. Just as journalists have united internationally to denounce Israel for the murder of nearly 300 members of their profession, it is essential that doctors and healthcare workers around the world, and of course in our country, raise their voices. If the Hippocratic Oath, concerning the duty and ethical mission of physicians—a mandate upheld by the 1948 Geneva Convention—had any meaning, we should see firm consequences. Instead, we witness the repetition of these genocidal acts of extermination every day. Palestine remains an example today, thanks to the commitment, conviction, and humanism of its doctors and medical staff.

Israel’s deliberate targeting of Gaza children part of genocide: UN inquiry

A UN commission of inquiry says Israel’s deliberate targeting of Palestinian children in Gaza is resulting in genocide, war crimes and crimes against humanity, with children killed, injured, detained and denied essential protection.

A United Nations commission of inquiry says Israel continues to deliberately target and kill Palestinian children, resulting in genocide, war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza and war crimes in the occupied West Bank.

In a report published on Tuesday, the UN Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem, and Israel examined Israeli violations against Palestinian children since the start of Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza in October 2023.

The report found that about 30 per cent of people killed in Gaza since the start of the war were children.

The report noted that Israel’s targeting of neonatal and maternity care centres during its war on Gaza directly endangered Palestinians’ reproductive future and the survival of newborns – driving a rise in miscarriages, birth defects and lasting vulnerabilities.

It found that Israel’s aid blockade in Gaza last year also took a severe toll on Palestinian children, causing starvation-related deaths and a rise in disease as immunisation rates fell.

“The evidence shows that Palestinian children have been deliberately targeted and killed by the Israeli security forces,” Srinivasan Muralidhar, chair of the commission, said.

“Even after the October 2025 ceasefire, children continue to be killed and seriously injured, with continued disregard by Israel for the ceasefire and for the protection owed to Palestinian children under international law.”

The commission was established on 27 May, 2021, during a special session of the UN Human Rights Council. It was set up to investigate alleged violations of international law and human rights abuses and look into the “root causes” of conflict between Israel and Palestine.

It said Israel carried out four of the five prohibited acts defining genocide under the 1948 Genocide Convention, including killings, causing serious bodily and mental harm, inflicting conditions to destroy a group and imposing measures to prevent the group from reproducing.

More than 50,000 children have been killed or wounded by Israeli forces since Israel began its war on Gaza, according to the UN children’s agency (UNICEF).

The agency noted that one Palestinian child has been killed every day on average for more than eight months in Gaza, since the so-called “ceasefire” took effect last October.

On Monday, the UN also warned that children are being left “increasingly unprotected” as humanitarian groups and rights defenders are forced to scale back their operations in the Palestinian territory.

Besides being killed or injured, the report said Palestinian children have been arrested and subjected to torture in Israeli prisons and other severe forms of mistreatment, including sexual abuse.

Earlier this month, Al Jazeera’s investigative documentary film, Bodies of Evidence, examined the use of sexual violence and torture against Palestinian detainees as part of a systemic policy employed by the Israeli military and prison authorities for decades.

The filmmakers also interviewed Palestinian children who were arrested and later strip-searched, some of them repeatedly.

“During the inspections, they stripped me completely. Of course, the one doing it was a female. But she would mock me, film me. There were four-five other soldiers, filming us and laughing,” a former child detainee told Al Jazeera.

Palestinians across the occupied territory, including children, have faced a surge in arrests and detention since Israel launched the war on Gaza.

More than half of the Palestinian children detained in Israeli prisons at the end of last year were being held without charge or trial, a Palestinian rights group, Defence for Children International-Palestine (DCIP), said in March.

The UN report also noted that, besides Gaza, Israeli forces have destroyed orphanages and education facilities in the occupied West Bank, which has affected Palestinian children’s cognitive, social and emotional care and development.

The UN commission said it has identified Israeli military units that have been responsible for attacking children and called on Israel to cease its violence against Palestinian children.

“Even if the bombs and guns fall silent in Gaza and the West Bank, Palestinian children will not simply recover overnight,” Muralidhar said.

“The protection, care and survival of Palestinian children are inseparable from the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination,” he added.

“By targeting children, Israel is attacking the very capacity of the Palestinian people to exist and to determine their future.”

Israel’s mission in Geneva rejected what it called the Commission’s “second defamatory advocacy report”.

“Israel dismisses this libellous sham,” it said in a statement and added that while “every child deserves protection”, the report ignored “the brutal tactics of Hamas”.
