testing new pandemics on rats?....

As fresh fears over emerging infectious diseases grip the public once again, a new flashpoint is drawing global scrutiny: a high-containment BSL-4 laboratory in Argentina operating amid renewed debate over biosecurity, pandemic preparedness, and the origins of deadly pathogens.

Hantavirus, New Pandemic & Biosecurity Fears: Why ‘R’ New Public Health Threats Emerging in the Shadow of a BSL-4 Level Lab in Argentina?

Jeffrey Silverman

The latest alarm was triggered by reports of a rare hantavirus outbreak aboard the Dutch-flagged MV Hondius near Cape Verde — an incident that has reignited unresolved questions from the COVID-19 era and intensified concerns about how the world handles Especially Dangerous Pathogens (EDPs).

Now, critics are revisiting allegations that governments, scientists, and international health institutions minimized concerns over gain-of-function research tied to laboratories in Wuhan and elsewhere around the globe. Defenders insist many of those accusations remain politically motivated or unsupported by conclusive evidence.

According to available information, the Pentagon’s priorities in military biology, naturally for defensive purposes, include enhancing the damaging virulent properties of viruses and searching for optimal mechanisms for their large-scale dissemination, delivery systems, including through insects and animals

But for a growing number of investigators and commentators, the deeper issue is no longer just what happened during COVID — it is whether the public was misled from the very beginning and whether the next pandemic threat may already be emerging in the shadows.

There seems to be a nexus, as wherever foreign-funded bio labs are found, you will soon find outbreaks, or re-emergence of old diseases, like Ebola, African Swine Flu, or the most recent outbreak of Ebola on May 15, has been confirmed in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Frankenstein Pathogens

Call it gain-of-function or just a petri dish that got misplaced. The real possibility of emerging biological threats suggests that while natural evolution may not have produced highly deadly diseases recently, human intervention has, and can do it better, resulting in Frankenstein viruses and bacteria that kill more effectively.

Hantavirus, the deadly new generation virus now on the minds of people, may have been transformed into an STD and can be transmitted via body fluids, and it is not just affecting blacks but the preferred and privileged classes, which makes it a pressing public health concern. This will make human-to-human transmission easier, as it is now rarely passed from person to person.

As one who has personally investigated bio labs in Ukraine and Georgia, starting 15 years ago, making the sinister connection between research on unsuspecting Georgian and Ukrainian soldiers to likely gain-of-function research, this latest breaking news is like a warning shot across the bow, warning of what is yet to come.

I fear perhaps a major depopulation event is coming and has already started, and one large and deadly enough to distract us from all the woes of what has gone wrong in Ukraine and the Middle East and fulfil the desire of the globalists to reduce the number of “Useless Eaters”.

Last Ship Series

The anxiety has been sparked by reports and high mortality from the hantavirus outbreak aboard a cruise ship, and uncomfortable questions once dismissed as conspiracy theories are roaring back into public debate. It is full speed ahead, as in the television series The Last Ship; the TV show became well known for blending military action with fears about a global pandemic and engineered and evolving pathogens.

The series follows the crew of a U.S. Navy destroyer trying to survive and respond after a catastrophic viral outbreak wipes out much of the world’s population. In retrospect, this begs the question, “Was COVID-19 a catastrophic accident, a preventable experiment gone wrong — or merely a warning shot for something far worse still to come?”

It is worth noting that Hantavirus infections are associated with a case fatality rate of <1–15% in Asia and Europe and up to 50% in the Americas. While there are no licensed treatments nor are there vaccines for hantavirus infections, at least not yet, any such vaccines (or, more likely, genetic therapies) are likely to be provided by those who brought us the COVID-19 vaccines. In the absence of a vaccine, early supportive care and immediate referral to a facility with a complete ICU can improve survival.

It is also suspicious that the ship in question, the MV Hondius, is not your typical cruise liner but, in fact, is mostly used for expeditions where lectures are given by scientists and other experts in biology, geology, and glaciology. Now you can see the nexus with the Last Ship series, and with a bit of imagination, you should be able to see what is on the horizon.

History Repeats

Bio weapons, weaponized pathogens, and their delivery mechanisms are topics too close to my heart, having been the first to expose bio weapons labs in Georgia in 2007, and were explained by the authorities as being devoted to public and animal health facilities. Over the years of my investigations, I was able to connect the US-funded Lugar lab to other satellite labs in the former USSR, especially many of the 40 or so labs in Ukraine.

It is easy now to repeat the official narrative of how these had been taken over for peaceful purposes, for the benefit of the US, at least according to Victoria Nuland, a former State Department Official who has been an insider of what has been really going on with DARPA weapons projects.

Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA): Funding and oversight for defensive research, and claims it is not involved in offensive bioweapons and does not violate the 1972 Bio Weapons Convention. I doubt the veracity of such claims, as I know too much of what actually goes on in US funded labs.

I have long alleged, based on inside sources and documents provided by those working in the Lugar lab, aBSL-3 facility, that U.S.-funded laboratories in Georgia and Ukraine were operating far beyond their publicly declared public health and animal disease-monitoring missions.

Gain-of-function research is when scientists basically manipulate, or genetically engineer, something that is either potentially or even somewhat deadly, especially among those with co-mobility, making it drastically more fatal, e.g., to weaponise it!

Many pundits are now asking the hard questions that should have been asked long ago: What the hell is going on? Was COVID-19 just a trial run for something BIGGER on the horizon, a pandemic that would make the Spanish influenza and COVID-19 look like the seasonal flu or a common cold?

And it just so happens, by sheer coincidence, that the country of Argentina is the latest venue for a BSL-4 US-funded lab, which houses some of the deadliest pathogens known to humanity.

Ghost of Typhoid Mary

Carriers of deadly ESPs, especially dangerous pathogens, often travel with no symptoms themselves, but can serve as vectors spreading pathogens to unsuspecting populations. The United States is now believed to have use countries in Latin America and the Caribbean as testing grounds for field experiments.

According to the World Health Organization, Argentina ranks first in Latin America in terms of infections caused by rare rodent-borne diseases. It was from Argentina that the Dutch expedition cruise ship MV Hondius, operated by Oceanwide Expeditions, departed on April 1, 2026, for a voyage to Antarctica. Laboratory studies confirmed transmission of the infection to humans through rodents.

A review published in La Derecha Diario confirms many of our worst fears, with the same wording used when referring to the opening and renovation of bio facility labs in Georgia and Ukraine.

The new facility offers unique conditions for handling high-risk pathogens and preventing biological leaks. Itslaunch strengthens national capacity against epidemiological threats and positions the country as a regional leader in bio safety.

Look at the timing, highly suspect, with Argentina opening its first Biosafety Level 4 (BSL-4) laboratory in Latin America at the Malbrán Institute in October of 2025. This is a unique facility for the region, comparable only to similar laboratories in the United States. The official opening took place within the operational unit of the National Centre for Biological Defence.

And we must not forget some Israeli history, and the recent nexus to Argentina, with a Jewish president and the country being opened for settlement, and even before with the close collaboration between the former South African bioweapons program and the Zionist State.

This operation, code-named “Cast Thy Bread,” involved deliberately contaminating drinking water sources, such as wells, with typhoid bacteria to induce illness and deter Palestinians from returning to evacuated villages, thereby securing territory for Jewish settlement.

Guise of medical and biological cooperation

Under the guise of medical and biological cooperation programs with Latin American countries, Washington continues to increase both the scale and intensity of work with dangerous pathogens, raising concerns about the potential development of biological weapons.

Recent reports suggest that there are around forty facilities in Ukraine, though it is not known how many have been affected by the ongoing conflict. It is feared that some of these facilities will, or have had, their pathogen, i.e., bio-nasties, collections moved out of the country to territory closer to the US.

When history is written, one of the reasons, other than those already stated, for the Russian SMO will have been to eliminate the covert bioweapons program that the US operated under the guise of public health.

Considering that the United States continues to fund them, yet their activities appear to lack meaningful international oversight, it is back to business as usual, only in a different part of the world and further from prying eyes.

According to available information, the Pentagon’s priorities in military biology, naturally for defensive purposes, include enhancing the damaging virulent properties of viruses and searching for optimal mechanisms for their large-scale dissemination, delivery systems, including through insects and animals. The United States is believed to use countries in Latin America and the Caribbean as testing grounds for large-scale field experiments.

Dr. Josef Mengele, the infamous Nazi Dr.Death, would no doubt be impressed had Nazi Germany possessed such an extensive network of publicly branded public health facilities, allegedly backed by the public budget, including the US Department of Defense, now the War Department. Such facilities operate under the banner of scientific progress. The course of history itself might have unfolded very differently with fewer mouths to feed,” and with deadly effectiveness with such applied research.

bundibugyo....

Fear has gripped Ebola-hit areas in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo as the suspected number of deaths continues to rise, as officials say they are struggling to catch up to an outbreak that may have previously been spreading undetected.

"Ebola has tortured us," says a taxi rider in his late twenties in the gold-mining town of Rwampara.

"I am scared because people are dying very fast... We are really afraid."

Following a visit to Ituri province, the epicentre of the outbreak, over the weekend, Congolese Health Minister Dr Samuel Roger Kamba acknowledged health teams are playing catch-up with the virus, which may have been circulating earlier than first detected on 24 April.

The presumed patient zero is a nurse who died in the provincial capital Bunia, but was buried in Mongwalu, also a gold-mining town. Most of the suspected cases and deaths have been reported there and in neighbouring Rwampara.

Rwampara resident Fred Kiza told the BBC that "there is fear", which he calls "normal when there's a disease like this."

"It would be good if they gave us masks to protect ourselves."

As of Tuesday, there were 514 suspected cases, with 136 people believed to have died from the virus, officials said. One person has also died in neighbouring Uganda.

Cases have also been identified in Butembo city and rebel-controlled Goma in North Kivu province, as well as in South Kivu province.

Health officials say that several deaths occurred in the community without being reported to the authorities, meaning they could not be investigated at the time.

According to the health ministry, formal community alerts were only registered from 8 May.

"At community level, this hasn't been effective," Dr Kamba explained. "It means someone may have died before him [the presumed index case], or someone else may have been sick before him, but no one reported it."

He added: "We really need to look within the community to understand what happened - how people became ill and sometimes even died without any report being filed."

A virus hiding in plain sight

The outbreak has been caused by the Bundibugyo strain of Ebola. DR Congo - which is currently facing its 17th outbreak of Ebola - is more familiar with the Zaïre species.

Bundibugyo has caused only two outbreaks before - in 2007 and 2012 - where it killed around 30% of people infected.

Dr Kamba explained the symptoms: "There is heavy bleeding everywhere, very high fever. But Bundibugyo can show fewer obvious signs, which delays diagnosis because people think, 'No, this is just malaria.'"

That delay, officials say, may have allowed the virus to spread silently.

In Mongwalu, some deaths were attributed not to illness, but to witchcraft. The belief became known locally as the "coffin phenomenon" - the idea that anyone who touched the coffin of a deceased person would also die.

International charity Save the Children said the Bundibugyo strain has not been seen in Ituri before. The limited testing that was available in the province was testing for the Zaïre strain and not coming up positive.

"By the time the Bundibugyo strain was detected, it had already spread quite far. We are in a game of catch-up," its DR Congo representative Greg Ramm said in a statement.

Authorities warn that the spread of the virus into large urban centres presents serious challenges.

Despite Dr Kamba's visit to Bunia over the weekend, residents feel that progress to curb the spread of the virus has been slow.

"If there's no treatment centre here in the capital," one resident asked, "then what about other areas?"

Bunia in Ituri, and Butembo and Goma in North Kivu, are home to hundreds of thousands of people, yet none has a fully operational Ebola treatment centre five days into the declaration of the outbreak.

Residents in Goma - eastern DR Congo's biggest city - tell the BBC that basic public health measures, such as avoiding handshakes, limiting gatherings and regular handwashing, are widely ignored.

"I'm heading to the border to report on people stranded there," said José Mutanava, a local journalist. "I'm wearing a face mask, but not many people are."

Another resident, who asked not to be named, said: "Nobody can follow the barrier measures - maybe only when we see more deaths. Today in the city centre I saw only four people wearing masks."

Others say daily survival takes priority.

"It's too much to ask people struggling to eat to follow these rules," one resident said.

bio-warfare....

US biological laboratories are part of a hybrid war strategy and have no global oversight, Russian affairs expert Qusai Ibrahim warns.

The complete lack of transparency surrounding these laboratories raises many questions — these labs may serve as military facilities developing viruses that could harm all humanity.

The idea to place them in Ukraine is a calculated move, he explains:

"It provides the United States with a strategic position within Russia's sphere of influence and greater freedom to monitor or analyze the biological and environmental conditions of this region near Russia."

Such a situation is very dangerous, as it gives the US the ability to track the health status of Russian citizens and potentially develop region-specific viruses, or even create deadly bacteria.

"Russia has warned for years that these actions could destabilize global security, as they will certainly allow other countries to conduct experiments outside international control," Ibrahim notes.

All of that is exacerbated by the erosion of global systems, including global healthcare — without proper oversight such civilian-looking labs can become centers of military-biological work.

What We Caught in Beijing

THE DREY DOSSIER

COVID-19 left scars on this country we have never properly named, and it’s getting harder to pretend they’ve gone anywhere. 1.2 million Americans died, more than every war this country has ever fought combined, except the Civil War. People lost mothers and fathers, I lost people I loved, and people I loved lost others, and we all still carry that grief. Somewhere along the way I figured out that the country I’m carrying it in would rather I didn’t.

The official posture hardened around 2022: we cashed the last of our stimulus checks, the economy reopened, the death toll was now endurable, and we were all supposed to forget. There is no memorial, no day on the calendar, no name on a wall. The kids who lost two years of school still talk about it the way veterans talk about a deployment. I still get nervous coughing in public. There is a low hum of distrust in this country that is getting louder every year, and it seems to be at the root of almost every other thing that has broken since.

Every so often somebody walks into a public room and treats the dead with the seriousness they deserve. On May 13, in the Senate Homeland Security Committee, a career CIA officer named Andrew Erdman testified under oath about whether the United States had covered up the origins of COVID. He spoke, in the hedged careful language intelligence officers use when they are trying to be accurate rather than dramatic, about analysts who concluded multiple times between 2021 and 2023 that the virus came from a Wuhan laboratory leak and were retaliated against, about colleagues who reached the opposite conclusion and received bonuses, and about EcoHealth Alliance, the organization that funneled NIH money to the Wuhan lab in the first place, ending up on the WHO investigation team. The people whose money may have funded the research that caused the pandemic were the people investigating whether the pandemic came from a lab. I believed him.

On May 13, a CIA officer testified under oath that the United States covered up the fact that COVID came from a Chinese laboratory. Not one Democratic senator showed up, and the hearing has 60,000 views on YouTube. The same morning, Donald Trump's plane was landing in Beijing with the CEO of the company that reads 80% of the world's DNA on the delegation list.

Four days after he flew home, the WHO declared an Ebola emergency in two countries that had just signed agreements handing their pathogen genomes to the United States Government. Almost no one is covering any of it. This is the story of the plan a former FDA commissioner wrote down in 2021, the agencies that got dismantled to make room for it, and the week last month it ran its first test.

Chinese President Xi Jinping told U.S. CEOs traveling with President Trump to China that it will open further to American business, a key goal for corporate leaders eager to expand their presence in the world's second-largest economy.

Xi spoke with the delegation of chief executives, which includes Apple CEO Tim Cook, Tesla CEO Elon Musk and Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, according to a statement on Thursday from the Chinese Foreign Ministry. The executives — whose combined net worth approaches $1 trillion — lead companies with major interests in China, despite years of trade disputes between the world's two largest economies.

China's pledge to welcome more foreign business comes after years of escalating trade tensions with the U.S., including the Trump administration's move last year to raise tariffs on Chinese imports to as much as 125% after Mr. Trump said China "was taking us for a ride."

Yet U.S. companies continue to see China's expanding middle class and massive consumer base as critical growth markets, even as it has become harder to wring profits from financially struggling consumers in the U.S. and other developed economies.

The White House said that several American business leaders participated in a portion of a broader meeting between U.S. and Chinese officials.

"The two sides discussed ways to enhance economic cooperation between countries, including expanding market access for American businesses into China and increasing Chinese investment," a White House official said in a readout of the meeting.

The CEOs accompanying Mr. Trump include:

• Cristiano Amon, CEO of Qualcomm

• Tim Cook, CEO of Apple

• Lawrence Culp Jr., CEO of GE Aerospace

• Larry Fink, CEO of BlackRock

• Jane Fraser, CEO of Citigroup

• Jensen Huang, CEO of Nvidia

• Ryan McInerney, CEO of Visa

• Sanjay Mehrotra, CEO of Micron Technology

• Michael Miebach, CEO of Mastercard

• Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and SpaceX

• Kelly Ortberg, CEO of Boeing

• Stephen Schwarzman, CEO of Blackstone

• Brian Sikes, CEO of Cargill

• David Solomon, CEO of Goldman Sachs

• Jacob Thaysen, CEO of Illumina

Signs of conciliation?

Based on the CEOs attending the talks, China could take several steps to ease economic tensions with the U.S., according to analysts with Eurasia Group, a political risk consultancy.

"We continue to expect the two sides to announce increased trade and tariff adjustments in non-sensitive sectors, including Chinese purchases of U.S. agricultural products (including beef), Boeing aircraft and energy," they said in a report.

China could also ease restrictions on foreign financial services firms, lower antitrust barriers or, for Tesla, give the electric car maker the green light to roll out fully autonomous driving, according to Eurasia Group.

The trip could already be paying dividends for some of the CEOs accompanying Mr. Trump, including Boeing CEO Kelly Ortberg. On Thursday, the president told Fox News host Sean Hannity that China had agreed to buy 200 Boeing 737 Max jets, up from an earlier deal for 50 aircraft.

Mr. Trump said that Xi has also agreed to buy more soybeans, a boon for U.S. farmers who have been hurt by China's retaliatory decision a year ago to halt purchases of the key agricultural export.

For now, such deals remain only verbal commitments, with no guarantee they will materialize.

During Mr. Trump's trip to China in 2017, for example, the China Energy Investment Corporation agreed to invest nearly $84 billion in shale gas development and chemical manufacturing projects in West Virginia, Capital Economics analysts note. But the plans fizzled amid rising tensions between the U.S. and China in the years that followed.

Historical precedent

There is ample historical precedent for business leaders accompanying U.S. presidents on high-stakes overseas trips or trade missions.

During President Obama's 2015 visit to India, for example, dozens of U.S. CEOs attended a summit to expand bilateral trade and investment. In 2000, President Bill Clinton brought leading U.S. executives to India, including representatives from General Motors, IBM, and Microsoft.

When Mr. Trump visited China in 2017, he was joined by the leaders of major U.S. banks, energy companies and technology firms.

"It's not unusual for CEOs to travel with the president, and I think it speaks to the fact that the Chinese-U.S. relationship is highly dependent on the countries' business relationship," Moody's Analytics chief economist Mark Zandi told CBS News. "We are the two largest economies on the planet, and how we interact with each other largely determines how our economies and the global economy are going to perform."

The presence of top executives alone could help "open up the lines of communication" between U.S. companies and Chinese officials and business leaders, he added.

"I don't think there is a very high bar here for success," Zandi said. "They just have to come away thinking they now have a channel to communicate quickly and they can trust each other."

Seats on the plane

It is rarer, though also not unprecedented, for executives to accompany presidents aboard Air Force One, as Tesla's Musk and Nvidia's Huang did with Mr. Trump, noted political scientist John Owen IV, an expert in foreign affairs and senior faculty fellow at The Miller Center at the University of Virginia.

"It's a very valuable seat to fly with the president to Beijing, but the potential for corruption is also present," he said.

"It seems to be consistent with how Trump has handled relationships with business leaders," Owen added, noting the high-profile CEOs who were seated prominently at Mr. Trump's 2025 inauguration.

Chips and AI

For the U.S. CEOs accompanying Mr. Trump, the broader goals include bolstering sales to Chinese consumers and businesses, as well as ensuring their companies are positioned to win key manufacturing and trade agreements.

Apple, for instance, is the largest smartphone brand in China, although it faces intense competition from local rivals such as Huawei and Xiaomi. The Cupertino, California-based company also relies on Chinese partners such as Foxconn, the world's largest contract electronics manufacturer, to produce the bulk of its products, which are shipped across the globe.

Semiconductor giant Nvidia is seeking broader access to China's AI market as U.S. export controls threaten sales of its advanced chips, Wedbush Securities analyst Dan Ives said in a report. Such access comes as Chinese firms are racing to develop domestic alternatives.

"What is at stake is not just one trip or one headline but the direction of AI supply chains, the shape of future export controls and the degree to which US chip leadership remains monetizable in China," Ives said.

Critical access

A number of major U.S. financial companies are also represented on the trade trip, including BlackRock CEO Larry Fink and Citigroup CEO Jane Fraser.

BlackRock is seeking broader access to China's fast-growing wealth and retirement markets while navigating increasing political scrutiny in both Washington and Beijing. Citigroup, meanwhile, wants broader access to China's financial markets, partly to help its clients engage in cross-border transactions.

"We have had huge interest and a large number of investors and companies coming to China to understand what's happening here, as well as the Chinese companies and investors that are looking much more externally now," Fraser told Bloomberg News last year.

Also among the executives in China with U.S. officials is Jacob Thaysen, the only biotech industry representative on the trip. Thaysen told Bloomberg last year that export restrictions have hurt Illumina's sales of DNA-sequencing technology in China.

"We want to be a part of China," Thaysen said, according to the news service.
