Russia's NEW NUCLEAR MISSILE: The Burevestnik /Lt Col Daniel Davis & Col Jacques Baud

Russia publicly unveiled and tested a nuclear-powered, nuclear-armed cruise missile (called Burevestnik by Russia; NATO designation SSC-X-9 “Skyfall”).

The Russians reported a multi-hour test flight on October 21 that covered about 14,000 km (they say that was not the missile’s maximum range).

Because it’s powered by a nuclear reactor, the missile’s range is effectively unlimited compared with conventional-fuel cruise missiles.

It flies at very low altitude (≈25–100 m) and at sub- to supersonic speeds (roughly 800–1,300 km/h), making detection by ground radars difficult and complicating interception.

The system revives ideas from Soviet Cold War concepts (e.g., MOB/FOBS — fractional orbital bombardment) but as a long-endurance low-altitude cruise weapon rather than an orbital weapon.

Experts in the discussion (host + Colonel Jacques Bo, former Swiss Strategic Intelligence and NATO officer) call it dangerous and potentially a game-changer because it offers Russia new ways to bypass existing missile-defense coverage and to strike from unexpected directions.

They note it’s not entirely surprising (it was known on paper before), and detection/interception may still be possible (satellite detection, not just ground radars), but it would be extremely difficult—especially if launched from unexpected vectors.

The missile’s existence and testing increase global tensions and complicate arms-control/crisis-management dynamics, especially given the background of the ongoing Russia–Ukraine war and the erosion of arms-control regimes (e.g., the ABM treaty’s end).

==================

Russia has completed tests of the Burevestnik unlimited-range cruise missile with a nuclear engine, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.Russian President Vladimir Putin described the nuclear-powered Burevestnik as a unique weapons system that no other country possesses. Test saw the missile fly 14,000 km — and that’s not even the limit.  Missile is powered by a miniature nuclear reactor, granting it virtually unlimited range.  Flying at ultra-low altitudes, it stays below radar, making interception nearly impossible.

10,500 Ukrainian Troops Trapped in Pokrovsk and Kupyansk

The war in Ukraine has reached a critical turning point. The Russian Ministry of Defense claims over 10,000 Ukrainian troops have been encircled in key cities like Kupiansk and Pokrovsk—a development not seen since the early days of the conflict. In this in-depth conversation, Peter Erickson and Charlie Erickson break down recent battlefield movements, analyze what makes these new encirclements so significant, and explain how Russia’s evolving strategy is accelerating the collapse of fortified Ukrainian positions across the front.

We discuss:
-Why the simultaneous encirclement of multiple fortress towns marks a decisive shift in Russian tactics
-How Ukraine’s defensive lines are unraveling, and what this means for the future of the Donbas region
-The real situation facing encircled Ukrainian soldiers—including the grim choices ahead
-The role of drones, glide bombs, and modern technology in shaping today’s battlefields
-Whether these losses could trigger a broader collapse of Ukrainian resistance—and what’s next for the war
-Plus, we take a hard look at Western policies, media coverage, and the human cost of decisions made far from the front lines.

If you want an honest, unfiltered look at a war that could reshape the world order, watch now. Don’t forget to like, subscribe, and share your thoughts in the comments.
