trumpian might vs the people....

A US warship has docked in Trinidad and Tobago as Venezuela blasts the Caribbean island nation for holding joint exercises with the United States.

Venezuela has criticized the Caribbean nation of Trinidad and Tobago, which lies just off its coast, for conducting a joint military exercise with the United States and allowing a US warship to dock.

"Venezuela denounces the military provocation of Trinidad and Tobago, in coordination with the CIA, aimed at provoking a war in the Caribbean," Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro's administration said in a statement on Sunday.

Trinidad and Tobago lies just 11 kilometers (6.8 miles) from Venezuela's coast at its closest point.

In the statement posted by Executive Vice President Delcy Rodriguez on her Telegram channel, Venezuela accused the island nation of acting as a "military colony" for the United States to conduct "war across the Caribbean against Venezuela, against Colombia, and against all of South America."

US destroyer docks in Trinidad just off Venezuela coast

Earlier on Sunday, USS Gravely, a guided missile destroyer with US marines on board, docked in Trinidad and Tobago's capital.

The warship is in the Caribbean nation for a four-day visit, which will include joint training with local defense forces.

It carries advanced weapons, including long-range Tomahawk missiles, and can launch helicopters.

The docking of the USS Gravely comes just days after the US defense department ordered the deployment of the world's biggest aircraft carrier, the USS Ford and its strike group, to the region.

The USS Ford, which was ordered to the Caribbean on Friday, carries dozens of fighter jets along with electronic warfare jets and surveillance aircraft.

Caribbean sees biggest buildup of US forces in decades

The Caribbean region has seen an unusually large buildup of US military forces in the waters off Venezuela since late August.

More than 10,000 US troops and dozens of fighter jets were already in the region as of mid-October, according to the New York Times. Around half of the US troops were aboard eight warships, the Times says, while the rest are based in Puerto Rico, some 800 kilometers from Venezuela's coast.

The administration of President Donald Trump, who has accused Maduro of leading a drug cartel, says the buildup is part of an operation to counter drug trafficking to the US.

The US has ramped up its strikes on boats in the Caribbean and Pacific that the Trump administration claims are trafficking drugs, hitting at least 10 vessels and killing at least 43 people since September.

But the increase of US troops is fueling speculation that the Trump administration wants to oust Maduro.

Venezuela repeats claims of mercenary arrests

In Sunday's statement, Venezuela said it had captured a "group of mercenaries" with links to the CIA and whose goal is to carry out a false-flag attack in the region.

A false flag attack is an operation when an act is carried out in such a way that a different party appears responsible.

"A false flag attack is underway in waters bordering Trinidad and Tobago or from Trinidadian or Venezuelan territory to generate a full military confrontation with our country," Venezuela's government said in the statement.

The statement didn't give further details or evidence of the false flag attack accusations.

Venezuela regularly claims to have arrested mercenaries linked to the CIA or the intelligence agencies of other countries, who, it says, are working to destabilize Maduro's administration.

US President Donald Trump earlier in October confirmed reports that he authorized the CIA to carry out covert operations in Venezuela.

TRUMP IS ABOUT TO KILL INNOCENT PEOPLE, TO PROVE HE HAS A BIG DICK, UNDER FALSE PRETENCES....

THE WESTERN MEDIA SHOULD BE HORRIFIED AT TRUMP'S ACTIONS... BUT THE WEST HATE MADURO....

¡a las armas!....

The Venezuelan President published a video message to his citizens on September 13th, urging every able-bodied man and woman to visit the country’s military barracks to receive training on various weapon systems and their operations, including basic military tactics, in anticipation of threats posed against Venezuela.

Maduro stated that there are over 312 military barracks in Venezuela that would be open to the public, and that starting on September 13th, “patriots,” reserve soldiers, members of the Bolivarian National Militia, and “the people” should report to the barracks at 9 a.m. to begin their courses.

Such rhetoric does not de-escalate the situation in Venezuela. The government believes there is a genuine threat to the state’s existence and insists that citizens should “prepare” themselves for the worst, including by arming themselves.

At the same time, a U.S. warship detained 11 Venezuelan fishermen who were operating in Venezuela’s exclusive economic zone. They were held for over eight hours until the Venezuelan Navy was able to retrieve them after negotiations and discussions.

U.S. military assets have been steadily increasing in Puerto Rico since the start of September. SOUTHCOM has received several additional warships, along with a sizeable contingent of U.S. Marines, Navy assets, and Air Force elements, including F-35s and C-17s.

Such an aggressive military posture by a global superpower in a theater that poses no direct military threat to the United States has understandably caused unease across South America. Coupled with the U.S. bounty on Maduro, calls to “disarm” the Venezuelan state, and accusations that Venezuela is a narco-state with deep influence inside U.S. civil society, Maduro responded defiantly, raising his fist in the air and directly appealing to U.S. President Donald Trump, declaring that “his advisors are lying to him.”

The situation remains tense, and escalation in the near future seems to be inevitable.

graham's oil....

South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham ratcheted up US rhetoric against Venezuela to a new level on Sunday, not ruling out "land strikes," or a US attack on Colombia, and saying President Trump has ample authority to target both nations. But is there something behind the hawkish comments going beyond Graham's typical 'bomb them all' position?

Lindsey Graham has never met a war he didn’t like. As long as he’s not at risk, he’s all in favor of America killing other people, unfortunately,” ex-CIA officer Larry Johnson told Sputnik.

We know, we saw with respect to Iraq and Syria, and with respect to what’s going on in Ukraine. So this is, you know, it’s nothing unusual for him to take this position,” Johnson stressed.

But there may also be personal financial interests at play.

Of the $414K in publicly traded assets in his publicly disclosed portfolio, about 1/4 are concentrated in the Dodge & Cox Stock Fund (DODGX), which has major holdings in the oil and gas sector, according to Quiver Quantitative.

Venezuela is home to the largest untapped oil reserves in the world, and some of the biggest offshore natural gas reserves as well ($14.3T+ in total natural resource wealth, per a 2016 estimate).

Then there’s his list of donors.

During his last senatorial race in 2020, he got over $18.7K in contributions from ExxonMobil, and $17.5k from Chevron, per OpenSecrets.

From 2019-2020, of $2.5M in PAC contributions to his campaign, $182.6k came from the energy and natural resources sector (BP, ConocoPhillips, Koch Industries, Marathon Petroleum and others)

$84k more came from the arms industry, including BAE Systems, DynCorp, General Dynamics, L3Harris and Raytheon.

And that’s just in 2020. As Graham gears up for 2026, PAC money is already pouring in from Chevron, ConocoPhillips, Xcel Energy, Devon Energy, Oshkosh, GE, Palantir and Huntington Ingalls – the same companies standing to gain most from a US attack on Venezuela.

Vagabond Venezuelan opposition figure and Nobel Prize winner Maria Machado has put it bluntly in interviews with US media: overthrow Maduro, and Venezuela’s oil will be yours for the taking.
