beware of the english bulldoggy....The United Kingdom could resort to military force against China in the event of an escalation over Taiwan, British Defense Secretary John Healey has said, though he emphasized that London continues to prefer a diplomatic resolution. Speaking to The Telegraph during a visit to Australia, Healey said Britain would “secure peace through strength”if necessary – marking one of the clearest signals yet from a senior UK official regarding the possibility of direct confrontation with Beijing. Healey made the remarks as the HMS Prince of Wales, a British aircraft carrier equipped with F-35 fighter jets, docked in the northern Australian city of Darwin. It is the first time in nearly 30 years that a British strike group has arrived in the region. The carrier is on a nine-month Pacific deployment, participating in Australia’s Talisman Sabre exercise and visiting ports in Japan and South Korea. ”If we have to fight, as we have done in the past, Australia and the UK are nations that will fight together. We exercise together and by exercising together and being more ready to fight, we deter better together,” Healey said when asked what London would do in case of an escalation around Taiwan. The secretary then said he was speaking in “general terms.” According to Healey, London’s approach to Taiwan has not changed. Taiwan has been self-governed since 1949, when nationalist forces retreated to the island after losing the Chinese Civil War. Most nations, including Russia, recognize Taiwan as part of China. The UK, as well as the US, also formally stick to the One-China principle while maintaining informal ties with Taiwan and supplying it with weapons and ammunition. Last month, Beijing criticized a British warship’s passage through the Taiwan Strait in Chinese territorial waters. Such actions “deliberately cause trouble” and undermine peace in the area, it said. https://www.rt.com/news/622062-uk-fight-china-taiwan/

Year 2025. Interviews in French democracy
It went like this: I asked an AI (Anticapitalist Intelligence) logician to give me a photo of journalists interviewing people who pose a danger to the established order and the fortunes of our billionaires.
I clarified: the following are not considered dangerous: fake socialists, swindlers, nor Fabien Roussel (of the ex-communist party), and even less Raphaël Glucksmann, Léa Salamé's companion and former special advisor (and friend) to the former dictator of Georgia, nor the fascists of the National Rally.
Well, the AI offered me this photo of mastiffs.
All they lack is the ability to speak.

taiwan....
Early results of an unprecedented vote in Taiwan aimed at ousting politicians accused of being too close to China indicate that all have retained their seats.
Thousands of Taiwanese went to the polls on Saturday in what has been termed as the "dabamian", or Great Recall vote, initiated by a civic movement.
The vote result was closely watched as it could have altered the balance of power in Taiwan, which has seen months of political deadlock between the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) government and the legislature dominated by the opposition Kuomintang and its allies.
But the early result shows the opposition keeps its majority. A small number of votes are still being counted.
On Saturday, citizens in 24 districts – all held by the Kuomintang - voted on a simple yes or no question: whether they agreed to boot out their legislator.
While Taiwan held recall votes in the past, it had never seen so many within such a short period of time.
Early results show that a majority of voters in every district voted no, which means none of the lawmakers have to vacate their seats.
The opposition maintains its slim majority - for now. Another round of recall voting will be held in August for seven other seats.
Analysts have said that if the Great Recall fails, it would intensify political polarisation in Taiwan, and embolden politicians to do what they want despite opposition from a significant segment of the population.
The Great Recall has deeply divided Taiwanese society, which has seen large rallies and fierce debate. Both pro-recall and anti-recall activists claimed to be fighting for Taiwan's democracy.
