Andrews brushes off workplace survey
The Federal Workplace Relations
Minister Kevin Andrews has dismissed a survey that shows that penalty
rates have been removed from more than 60 per cent of agreements under the
new WorkChoices legislation.
The Office of the Employment
Advocate surveyed 250 employers and found that 63 per cent of new
agreements had no penalty rates, and a similar number had removed leave
loading.
Mr Andrews says it is premature
to draw conclusions.
"When we see the evidence we
will know, but it's too early." he said.
"Anybody who's drawing too
many conclusions from the first 250 of the sample when there's no drilling
down, no correlation of what's just raw data, I think is just premature
and I'm not going to be drawing all sorts of extreme conclusions in any
direction."
