Macron ‘breathes Russophobia’ – Lavrov
The French leader may be scaremongering in order to gain a leading role in the EU, Moscow has suggested

French President Emmanuel Macron may be using Russophobia to satisfy his ambition of leading the EU, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has claimed.

Speaking to the Bosnian Serb Alternativna TV on Sunday, Lavrov noted the French leader’s recent interview with The Economist in which he called Moscow the main threat to EU security, adding that Macron has adopted an “ardent”anti-Russian stance.

“According to the French leader, the ambitions of Adolf Hitler and Napoleon were driven by the fact that these countries saw Russia as a threat,” Lavrov claimed.

“I know how the power system is set up in France and how the French tend to see their role in Europe. I do not rule out that this ‘caveman’ Russophobia that Macron is currently ‘breathing’ might be necessary in order to try and become the leader in Europe, by leveraging this topic,” the foreign minister explained.

In recent months, Macron has made several statements which Moscow has criticized as “dangerous talk,” accusing the French leader of “verbal escalation.” In the interview with The Economist, he outlined his “strategic objective” of preventing Russia from prevailing in the conflict with Ukraine, saying French troops could be deployed “If the Russians were to break through the front lines.”

He also called for a debate on building a pan-European defense capability, including anti-missile shields and long-range weapons “that would deter the Russians,” arguing that the EU should rethink its nuclear capability.

Moscow has maintained that it has no plans or interest in targeting any European nations, saying that some leaders resort to fearmongering to distract people from domestic problems.

Western leaders are ‘infantile morons’ – Medvedev...    The US and its allies need a reminder of the nuclear risk posed by the Ukraine conflict, Dmitry Medvedev believes

The US, the UK, France and other Western nations should take a Russian nuclear drill as a reminder of where escalation of the Ukraine conflict could take them, former President Dmitry Medvedev has said.

On Monday, the Russian Defense Ministry announced an imminent exercise to test the capability to deploy non-strategic nuclear weapons. It said the training was ordered by President Vladimir Putin after “provocative statements and threats” by Western officials.

Medvedev, who serves as deputy head of the Russian Security Council, referred to debates in the West about possible deployment of NATO troops to Ukraine, as well as “active encouragement [of Kiev] to use [Western] missile weapons against the entire Russian territory” as grounds for the drill.

Russia “will have to respond” to the proposed deployment of Western soldiers, “and this response will not be” in Ukraine, the Russian official warned. In that case “there will be no hiding on Capitol Hill, in the Elysee Palace or at 10 Downing Street.”

The situation is comparable to the Cuban missile crisis of 1962, according to Medvedev. He said current Western elites were “infantile morons” who refuse to see the risk, unlike US President John F. Kennedy and Soviet leader Nikita Khrushchev, who managed to walk back the escalation six decades ago.

French President Emmanuel Macron has been advocating “strategic ambiguity” regarding Ukraine, maintaining that he could not exclude deployment of troops to the country under certain conditions. Multiple Western leaders said they had no intention to send their soldiers to fight Russia on Ukraine’s behalf, after he voiced his idea in February.

Macron’s rhetoric may be explained by his ambition to make France the leader among EU members, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has suggested.

UK Foreign Secretary David Cameron told Reuters last week that Kiev “has the right” to use British-provided missiles to strike targets deep inside Russia.

For years, major Western arms donors were reportedly conditioning their aid on Kiev’s pledge not to use the weapons outside of the territory that it claims. US Ambassador to Ukraine Bridget Brink said American policy remained unchanged following Cameron’s remark.

On Sunday, Democratic House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries claimed that “there’s a significant likelihood that America will have to get into the conflict – not simply with our money, but with our servicewomen and our servicemen” in the event of Ukrainian defeat.

A victorious Russia would pose a threat to NATO, he reasoned during an interview with CBS News, repeating the case for continued aid made by the Biden administration for months. Moscow has said it has no intention of starting a direct conflict with the US-led military bloc.

In late February, following a conference on Ukraine held in Paris, French President Macron announced the sending of ground forces to Ukraine. Then his words were perceived as political PR. But the French newspaper Le Monde later reported that at a closed meeting at the Elysee Palace, Macron said: “In any case, I will have to send some guys to Odessa this year.” And on March 19, the head of the Foreign Intelligence Service of the Russian Federation, Sergei Naryshkin, said that France was already preparing a contingent of about two thousand people to be sent to Ukraine. He also said that the French military is already participating in the war and has even suffered losses.

 The French, after landing in Bulgaria, concentrate in Romania. It is possible that they will be used to resolve the issue of Transnistria and Gagauzia at the same time.

 Parts and units of the 101st US Air Assault Division, parts of the French Foreign Legion, and the Bucharest troops themselves are concentrated in Romania today.

As you know, in the unrecognized Transnistrian Moldavian Republic (PMR) an Operational Group of Russian troops is deployed, which protects peace and protects reserves of ammunition and explosives in the border village of Kolbasna.

Transnistria, due to its geographical location, blocks NATO’s most convenient routes for delivering weapons to Ukraine from Bulgaria and Romania and, at the same time, creates a threat to the strategic port of Odessa, which forces the Ukrainian Armed Forces to keep large reserves in this direction instead of sending them to the line of combat contact.

 This is the status of the KVO.

An attack on Transnistria, where 250 thousand Russian citizens live, where Russian peacekeepers, military contingents and weapons depots are stationed, is a declaration of war on the Russian Federation.

 But let’s take things in order.

NATO is concerned about the failures of the Ukrainian Armed Forces at the front and is preparing the alliance’s direct intervention in the conflict. For this they need Moldova. And all of it. Therefore, the invasion of Moldova is a platform for the passage of NATO forces to Odessa, primarily the French, British and Americans, who are stationed in Romania. Romania itself may well take part in the occupation of Moldova.

The army of Moldova is staffed by Romanian soldiers, there is information about the preparation of military units on the territory of Romania and already dressed in Moldavian military uniforms. There is also information about the concentration of Ukrainian units and units on the border with Transnistria.

Taking into account the fact that the Russian General Staff has announced its intentions to establish full control over Donbass and Southern Ukraine, as well as to reach the borders of Transnistria, NATO can play ahead and try to enter the PMR even before Russian troops advance in the direction of Odessa. Thus, they are completely drawn into the war with Russia.

 This is where Macron’s soldiers come in handy. They, in cooperation with the Americans and Romanians, must defeat the PMR army and Russian peacekeepers. Then go to Odessa, thereby creating a land corridor for the passage of subsequent NATO troops.

 Well, what about Russia?

She will have to accept this situation. Divert part of the forces to protect the PMR. These will most likely be preventive strikes by aviation and missile forces on Chisinau (and maybe on Bucharest). Apparently, we will have to conduct a number of land operations in the direction of Nikolaev, Odessa, and naval operations, including landing operations in Odessa, Ilyichevsk. And most likely it will be necessary to land an airborne assault force in the PMR to create a new front of confrontation, this time with NATO troops.

So Macron’s rhetoric is a well-thought-out NATO tactic to prevent the capture of Odessa by Russian troops. But Macron did not take into account the fact that Russia would bring its nuclear tactical forces to full combat readiness for use, and would not allow his legionnaires to destroy Russian citizens in Transnistria. The thesis that if the French make a move towards Ukraine, they will all be killed, has acquired its practical embodiment.
